2-MINUTE TOPIC TALKS. Talk (or write) about Pick a category and spin the wheel. Be careful of the volume (turn your device down). These wheels work better on a laptop or tablet with a larger screen. Sorry. Unfortunately, they now have annoying ads on these wheels, so the topic may be hard to read on your smartphones.

A book talk is a short (30 second - 2 minute) speech designed to encourage someone to read a book, giving an idea of plot, characters, or themes of the book, but, unlike a book report, does not summarize the whole plot or give away the ending or major plot points.

In other words, no spoilers. Book talks are traditionally thought of as a tool used by librarians Author: Amanda Pippitt. Pretty much anything is up for grabs, as long as the speaker is able to discuss it clearly for the allotted time.

However, the format can be limiting in that there’s only a few minutes to prepare, with just slightly more time to actually give the speech.
