I re-watch the Godfather series every so often, (even the third on occasion) because it's one of my favorite set of movies, in one of my favorite genres. I always have the problem when I try to watch parts 1 and 2 in succession, that I get sort of depressed and disinterested in part 2 almost halfway through it.

We follow 2 timelines, one tells the story of how Vito Corleone became a mafia man, the second picks up where the Godfather left off. Vito's mother and father are killed when he was a child in Italy. He escapes and moves to New York. Meanwhile, an attempt is made to kill Micheal. It fails.   The book was great, but I didn't read it until decades after seeing the movie. Better? I grew up on Pacino and Brando and all the rest, so I cannot truly be objective. My parents read the book first, back in , and were very apprehansive about the movie because they didn't think anything could live up to the book.
